Where there is hope …

January 1, 2012 | Even the darkest, dreariest, wettest days of winter don’t spark despair in horse people. For them -- like gardeners -- when the calendar rolls over from one year to the next, every dry day is a harbinger of hope: the promise of green grass, the first (fresh) ride, the mattes of winter hair wafting through the air and clinging to everything fleece you own. Before long, it will be time to get down to the business of showing. The hum of clippers, the late nights braiding (or banding), the unmistakable (and heady) smell of Show Sheen and that first gulp of fresh, dewy, (very) early morning air. Show season for some just can’t come soon enough …
