  1. To be eligible for year end awards, horse owners and/or exhibitors must be current members in good standing of the Delta Riding Club.
  2. Only shows entered after the membership date will be counted. Member-ships will not be retroactive for the purpose of accumulating points.
  3. High point and reserve high point recognition and/or awards will be offered for all classes, with the exception of Hunter/Jumper, Games and Dressage classes.

  6. A high point and reserve high point Dressage award will be presented to the horse/rider combination accumulating the highest average score based on their top score from their two best Dressage shows of the season. (If an exhibitor rides the same test twice at the same show, the first score shall be considered for year end award tabulation as required.)

Overall Pony: includes points accumulated in pony classes only
Overall Walk/Trot (sponsored by the Hanney family): includes points accumulated in walk/trot, walk/trot/individual canter, walk/jog and walk/jog/individual lope classes only

  8. The Buster Bojo Brown Versatility perpetual award (sponsored by the Brodie family) will be presented to the exhibitor who has exhibited in and earned the most points in English Showmanship, English Pleasure, Handy Horse, Western Showmanship, Western Pleasure and Trail classes. An exhibitor must have competed in each of the six required classes in order to be eligible for the award. No reserve award is offered.
  9. Showmanship, Halter and Turnout classes will count toward their respective English and Western high point and reserve high point division awards, but are not mandatory.
  10. In Basic Seat, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Stock Seat and Horseman-ship, points will be assigned to the same horse/rider combination.
  11. Points earned in restricted classes, for example walk/trot, pony or draft, will not count toward division high points.
  12. Division (Hunter/Jumper, Games, Dressage) high point and reserve high points will be awarded to the same horse/exhibitor combination.
  13. Keepers will be presented to high point perpetual winners in each category. An award will be presented to the reserve high point winners in each category.
  14. Delta Riding Club members will be given the opportunity to nominate and vote for members eligible to win the following perpetual awards: Most Enthusiastic; Most Improved (rider must be a member of the club for more than one year and preference is given to the member who rides in all categories); Special Appreciation (presented to a member - not necessarily an exhibitor -- who has helped the club); Sportsmanship (among exhibitors) and the Wayne Schiewe Memorial (to the member who has helped youth members). At the regular monthly meeting in April, a nominations committee of not less than two but ideally three members including a chairperson shall be appointed from the membership at large to accept nominations for these awards. A ballot box will be placed at shows and members will be invited to nominate suitable candidates for the awards by signed ballot throughout the show season. Where more than five nominees have been recommended for any single award, the awards committee will collectively decide which five nominees will remain on the ballot, either on merit or by draw, in advance of the October membership meeting. Where less than five nominations have been made for any one award, nominations from the floor of the October meeting may be accepted until a maximum of five nominations per award are listed on the ballot. Members may be nominated in consecutive years for the same award. One ballot sheet listing each of the awards and their respective nominees shall be distributed to each of the current members in attendance at the October meeting and members shall mark their ballots. Ballots will be counted at the conclusion of the meeting by the committee. It is recommended that if a call for nominations is required from the floor, that it is scheduled early in the meeting so ballots can be prepared and distributed. Each winner will receive a keeper award in addition to the perpetual, which shall be returned to the club prior to the following year's award presentation.
  15. The "Horse on Course" Horsemanship perpetual is awarded to an exhibitor who displays the utmost care and attention to their equine friend -- above and beyond sport and personal achievement. Nominations for the "Horse on Course" Horsemanship Award will be accepted throughout the season in a designated box for nominations placed in the show office. The member receiving the most nominations gathered throughout the show season will be awarded the perpetual. In the case of a tie, the winner will be chosen by draw. A keeper will be awarded.
  16. Points earned at the club's annual summer show will count toward year end awards.
  17. In order to be eligible for a year end class or division award, exhibitors and/or horses must have competed in 50% of the classes or divisions offered during the qualifying year. For instance, if English Pleasure Intermediate is offered at each of three shows, you must compete in that class at least two times in order to be eligible for a year end award. Conversely, an exhibitor must compete in the same division at a minimum of two Hunter/Jumper shows in order to be eligible for that division's high point. Points earned in classes at Hunter/Jumper shows shall not be combined with those earned in the same classes at English/Western shows for the purpose of earning year end awards.
  18. Certificates of recognition will be presented to each high point and reserve high point winner.
  19. A high point award and reserve high point recognition will be presented in all eligible classes (with the exception of Hunter/Jumper, Games and Dressage) and divisions where a horse and/or exhibitor has earned a minimum of six points.
  20. In classes or divisions where a horse and/or exhibitor has earned less than five points, certificates of recognition only will be awarded.
  21. A tie breaker shall determine the sole high point and reserve high point in each category. The horse and/or exhibitor with the most first placings will receive the high point.
  22. Points will be awarded using the following scale:
# of horses 1st place 2nd place 3rd place 4th place 5th place 6th place
1 1
2 3 1
3 4 2 1
